Come On In and Stay A While

Welcome to the blog of Staja Studios. We are STAcey and JAson Thon, the dynamic duo (self proclaimed) behind Staja Studios! This blog serves as our way to keep in touch with everyone we know, like, and love. We thought it would be a fun way for people who know us to keep up with what is going on in our lives and studio, and a wonderful way for those of you who may have just met us to learn more about who we are.
We would like to bring together our professional and personal lives. You can expect to see pictures from our latest weddings, engagement shoots, portraits, etc. As well as some personal, fine art, family pics, and other projects. In addition, we will be sharing our "Cheers and Jeers", and other random ramblings about whatever strikes our fancy. In the future we are also looking for ways to make things more interactive, if you will. This may include voting for a particular marketing piece, contests, and various other activities.
Thank you all for stopping by, and don't forget to - Get Captured!

Sarah and Dean are Engaged!

Sarah and Dean's patience for their engagement session proved to be well worth it. We were scheduled to shoot a couple of weeks earlier, but decided to hold out for some leaves and a warmer temp. What an awesome afternoon we got too! Hanging out down by the Mississippi was so much fun. There were others out enjoying the day and the river, but it kinda felt like we were on a camping adventure hiking through the wilderness. Funny that we were pretty much shouting distance to downtown Minneapolis. I just love that about our awesome city. It's dotted with these fabulous pockets of nature:)
We ended our evening at Pizza Nea (our new favorite Pizza restaurant) Have I ever mentioned their artichoke dip?? To die...
Needless to say, we had an awesome time and can't wait for Sarah and Dean's wedding in July.
Here are some shots from their engagement session.

Jesse & Bobby are Engaged!

Holy smokes, what an awesome engagement session! Talk about chemistry:) These two lovebirds are all about each other.
We met up with Jesse and Bobby in Minneapolis about a week or so ago on a really gorgeous afternoon. They will be getting married at Mill City Museum the beginning of June and wanted to use some of that area for their engagement pictures. We love shooting down there. No matter how many times we have been to this particular location, we always come back with unique and interesting images. It's pretty amazing how many different nooks and crannys there are in and around the Guthrie and Mill City.
Okay, so back to this fabulous couple. Can I just say that the passion and love these two have for each other is so blantant it practically oozes from their skin! What a pleasure it was to photograph them.
Thank you so much Bobby and Jesse for checking any nervousness or uncertainty at the door and just going for it every step of the way! We are loving how your images turned out and hope you feel the same.
Take a peek at some of our favs!

Ashley & Mike are Married! May 9, 2009

Our first wedding of the year! Jason and I were so happy and excited for Ashley and Mike's wedding to arrive and it certain didn't disappoint! The day began cold and windy, but gradually turned into a gorgeous spring day. The sun even decided to join us for much of the day:) These two did such a fabulous job planning their wedding; no detail was left behind. Ashley is the owner of a graphic design company called Burleigh Day Design, so as you can imagine, everything from the invitations to the table cards was packed with creativity and elegance.

Ashley and Mike met while in college at the University of St. Thomas. This is also where they chose to become husband and wife. The Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas is an absolutely beautiful church.

The reception was held at Brackett's Crossing Country Club in Lakeville. The Platinum Ballroom was decorated to perfection. Once again, Ashley's sense of style and design was very apparent.

As the guests arrived at the reception, all of the mothers were presented with a long stemmed red rose in honor of Mother's Day (which was that Sunday). One of the little surprises that Ashley's dad had up his sleeve:)

Jason and I had such a great time and want to thank and congratulate Mike and Ashley on their wonderful wedding day! We are just thrilled for the both of you.

Please enjoy a little preview of some of our favorite images from your day.
