Come On In and Stay A While

Welcome to the blog of Staja Studios. We are STAcey and JAson Thon, the dynamic duo (self proclaimed) behind Staja Studios! This blog serves as our way to keep in touch with everyone we know, like, and love. We thought it would be a fun way for people who know us to keep up with what is going on in our lives and studio, and a wonderful way for those of you who may have just met us to learn more about who we are.
We would like to bring together our professional and personal lives. You can expect to see pictures from our latest weddings, engagement shoots, portraits, etc. As well as some personal, fine art, family pics, and other projects. In addition, we will be sharing our "Cheers and Jeers", and other random ramblings about whatever strikes our fancy. In the future we are also looking for ways to make things more interactive, if you will. This may include voting for a particular marketing piece, contests, and various other activities.
Thank you all for stopping by, and don't forget to - Get Captured!

Slide.com

Hey everyone,

We found out about these cool online slideshows that you can easily put together from [b]ecker, a fellow photographer who lives on the west coast. He has a great blog, and is someone whose work we have always appreciated.

Anyway, after checking them out, we wanted to pass the info on. The web-site is called slide.com, and it is free! They have a variety of themes and transitions. We thought you may like the idea for your own blog, wedding-site, myspace or facebook page, etc. For all of you brides, I think you can even put it in on your knot.com profile page.

Jason

Photoshop Training

We are in the smoky mecca of Treasure Island Resort & Casino getting some photoshop training with Kevin Kubota. It is a lot of information to cram into a few days, but has been a great learning experience so far. We arrived on Sunday and started right away. Kevin has been excellent. Not only does he know his stuff, but he also presents it in a fun way.

Last night we went out for dinner in Red Wing at The St. James Hotel Port restaurant. It was a nice change of pace from the day. The restaurant is set in a wine cellar atmosphere. A nice warm environment. We went out with some photographer friends of ours who are also in our PUG group. Here is a picture of everyone from left to right Jason and Stacey, Erin, Sally, Tasha and Kristi.

Good food, good company, and an overall good time. Stacey and I are so excited to get home and implement some of what we have learned. We really think you are going to enjoy some of the things we have planned for the next year.

Well, it's about time for a cold frosty brew!

Highlights from Sunny Florida

Stacey here! Like I said before, I've not been very nurturing toward our blog, but I did promise some family pix from our trip to Disney World and Naples and here they are.

On Jan. 5th, Lauren and I flew in on a "big silver bird" (as she would say). She was a totally well behaved 2 year old on the plane, which was a relief to me. I would say her good manners were due to our excellent parenting skills, but it might have been the sucker I was bribing her with.

We went to Disney World the next couple of days with my parents, sisters and their spouses (or almost spouse) :)

Grandpa rode on all the rides with Lauren. She even waited in line for 45 minutes to ride the Dumbos. She loves that elephant!

It took a while, but we did manage to find some Disney characters for her to hug. You would think that being at Disney World, Mickey would be around every corner, but that is not the case. There is one huggable Mickey and he pretty much chills in his backyard most of the time. When it was finally Lauren's turn to see him, she had changed her mind. Here you can see Mickey physically restraining her for the picture. Thanks Mick!

She was much happier hanging with Pluto

We stopped at Downtown Disney for a little while and they have these cute gift shop stores called Bibbity Bobbity Boutiques. It's all about getting your daughter dressed up in a princess costume, getting her hair and nails done and then a little photo shoot. Very cute, but very pricey. When it comes to making money, gotta hand it to Walt and co. We didn't do the princess thing. Lauren is a bit too young, but she sure took a shine to the princess in the window display! My sister said that random people were taking pictures of her chatting with the mannequin.

Here is a shot of my very sleepy baby walking back to the hotel room.

After we got my sister hitched, we all cruised down to Naples where my parents have a
winter home. Talk about relaxing! We hung out on the beach most of the time. Lauren wasn't quite sure if she was digging it or not. I think the massiveness of the gulf freaked her out a little bit and she didn't like walking on all of the seashells. She was much happier on the beach with shoes on. Here are some shots of my beach baby.

My parents have this little lake behind their house that is stocked with bass, so we were out there fishing a lot. New uncle Jon caught a whole bunch. I, of course, didn't catch anything, which is typical. Lauren wandered off one evening and found some fruit trees in the neighbor's yard. The nice lady told her she could pick some, which was a lot of fun. They have orange and grapefruit trees and this crazy lemon/lime combo tree that was grafted together. Very interesting. The oranges that she picked were the best/juiciest I have EVER had in my life. Super juicy and sweet. I think they're called "Honeybells"?? (not quite sure on that name).

After 5 days with my folks it was time to ship out. We had a great time and can't wait to go back.

Here is Lauren waiting for the big silver bird with her Mema and Papa

I will post again soon...I promise!

Take care and have a great day!

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

I know this is a bit late, but I thought I would do my best to help all you gentlemen out with a little poem for the ladies! I would leave the "thickness in the thighs" part out though, it may not go over so well.

What Is It That I Love?

If asked why I love her I would say
It’s the sway in her hips,
the thickness in her thighs.
It’s the lust in her lips,
the love in her eyes.
It’s the softness of her skin,
the silk in her hair.
It’s the twist in her walk;
it’s the sweetness in her talk.
It’s the way she loves me
that makes me love her each day.
That is what I would say.

On the homefront, we stayed in and had a nice relaxing evening. The menu called for Beef Wellington and a little wine. It was pretty funny when I got home and Lauren caught a glimpse of her valentine. Eating wasn't much of a priority for her anymore.

Here is a picture of our little sweet pea eyeing up here present.

It's a lot of fun watching her get so excited and interested in things now days.

Needless to say we had a wonderful day, and hope you all did too.

Check out these berries!

So, I'm not typically one to get excited over household items, but I have to tell you all about these totally awesome food storage containers I got for Christmas. Yes, I actually did ask for tupperware for Christmas. I'm a dork. Here's the story... I was flipping through the channels one day and saw a segment about these cool new silver-lined containers that are supposed to keep food fresher longer. I guess the silver particles absorb or neutralize or kill the bateria that grows on food. I'm not all that sure how it works.

We have a problem at our house with fruit getting moldy before we can eat it all, which annoys me. Mostly strawberries and grapes. Lauren is really the only one that eats the strawberries and by the forth day in the fridge they are usually getting pretty sketchy. Anyway, my parents bought me a set of these rather spendy Fresher Longer containers (they aren't made by Tupperware, by the way) and I have to tell you, I'm ready to replace the rest of my stuff with it.

Here's the proof:

I bought these strawberries on Jan 2 and I took the pictures on the 23rd. That's 3 weeks and not a bit of mold! The bottom picture is a close up of the nastiest looking one. Of course we didn't eat these, (they were my test subjects), but I totally would have at 2 weeks old. They didn't even start to get squishy til the third week.

Okay, so it's going to take a lot of strawberries saved to equal what the containers cost, but still, I am amazed at how well they work! Leftovers last longer too.
