Come On In and Stay A While

Welcome to the blog of Staja Studios. We are STAcey and JAson Thon, the dynamic duo (self proclaimed) behind Staja Studios! This blog serves as our way to keep in touch with everyone we know, like, and love. We thought it would be a fun way for people who know us to keep up with what is going on in our lives and studio, and a wonderful way for those of you who may have just met us to learn more about who we are.
We would like to bring together our professional and personal lives. You can expect to see pictures from our latest weddings, engagement shoots, portraits, etc. As well as some personal, fine art, family pics, and other projects. In addition, we will be sharing our "Cheers and Jeers", and other random ramblings about whatever strikes our fancy. In the future we are also looking for ways to make things more interactive, if you will. This may include voting for a particular marketing piece, contests, and various other activities.
Thank you all for stopping by, and don't forget to - Get Captured!

Nutcracker Preview

We just got back in town today from our busy weekend, which we will post more about later. However, as a little teaser, we thought we would leave you with one image that pretty much sums us the beauty and grace of the Nutcracker!

Be sure to check back for more images and to hear about Lauren's experience at the ballet!

Minneapolis PUG - Day After Session

Well the season is coming to a close. A few of our fellow PUG photographers got together on a Sunday during the fall and we did a day after or "Trash The Dress" session. Trash The Dress has become the moniker for this type of session, but that doesn't mean you actually have to "Trash" your dress. We prefer to look at it as an opportunity to get great fun, funky, (insert your own adjective) images that you couldn't on your wedding day. Karly comes from a small town and wanted an urban feel to her shoot. As a group, I think we came up with some cool images that definitely accomplished her goal. The day concluded with Karly bravely testing the cool October waters in Minnesota! I would like to give a special thanks to our friend Katie for pulling everything together. Not to be forgotten was Ashley Peraro who did the hair and make-up.

Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Thanks everyone, I had a great time and hope you like the images! - Jason

Laura and Chris - Wed

Laura and Chris helped us wind the "season" down with their lovely fall wedding.
The day started with us arriving to a brisk autumn morning at Weddings of Wayzata. Laura was getting ready and we spent some time with her and her fabulous bridesmaids before Chris and the groomsmen arrived. The bridal cabin has a nice amount of space and it has this great white washed Cape Cod feel to it. Considering the time of year, and the setting, Stacey and I wanted to showcase a mix of the rustic feel, yet feature some of falls golden and vibrant colors. After the ceremony, these two wanted a nice yet simple lunch reception that included a candy table (it was right after Halloween :). With the reception finishing earlier in the day, it allowed us to steal the couple afterward and go into Wayzata to get some images that time would have restricted otherwise.

We want to wish you both the best of luck, and can't wait to show you the rest of the images!

P.S. If you would like to see all of the pictures or order any, you can get to their online gallery by using this LINK. If you register before the event is released (ie. now), you are eligible for a $10 gift certificate!

Katie & Stephen

We did Katie and Stephen's wedding recently and had so much fun! We got a beautiful fall day and the weather, although a little brisk at times, couldn't have cooperated better. We started the day at Pax Christi Church for the ceremony and proceeded to take a little stroll near Anderson Lake Park afterward. The day concluded with a great reception at the Edina Country Club. These two were high school sweethearts who stuck it out through college and are now happily married! We wish you both the very best and can't wait for your viewing.

With that said, here is a sneak peek!
